FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is red light therapy?

Red light therapy (sometimes called LED light therapy or photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity. The light penetrates skin and tissue, helping cells produce energy more efficiently — which supports skin health, tissue repair, inflammation reduction, and overall wellness.

How does Elym’s red light therapy work

Elym devices deliver controlled red and near-infrared wavelengths that safely reach skin and deeper tissue layers. When you use the device, photons enter your cells and help boost cellular energy (ATP), which accelerates natural repair processes — improving skin tone, reducing inflammation, promoting collagen production and supporting recovery.

What kind of results can I expect — and how soon?

Results vary depending on individual biology, usage frequency, and your goals. Many users notice subtle skin improvements (like brighter tone, smoother texture, and enhanced glow) within 1–2 weeks of consistent use.
For deeper benefits — such as improved skin elasticity, reduced wrinkles or inflammation, or tissue recovery — benefits often develop over 4–8 weeks of regular sessions.

How often should I use the device?

For most users, 3–5 sessions per week is a good starting routine during the initial treatment cycle. Once you achieve your desired results, you can continue with maintenance sessions as needed.

Is red light therapy safe for everyone?

Red light therapy is generally considered safe, non-invasive, and gentle on the skin. That said, individuals with light sensitivity, certain skin conditions, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding may want to consult with a healthcare professional before use.

Do I need to prep my skin before a session?

For best results — and to allow light to penetrate properly — it’s recommended to use red light therapy on clean, dry skin (without heavy creams, oils, or makeup).

Do I need eye protection?

Because some wavelengths can be very bright, we recommend using protective eyewear if you are concerned about ocular sensitivity. That said — for many LED therapy devices — it’s often acceptable to simply close your eyes during treatment, depending on the device specifications.

How do I clean and care for my Elym device?

Clean your device gently before or after each use with a soft, water-based wipe. For stubborn spots, a damp cloth can be used — avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

What if I don’t see results?

Red light therapy’s effectiveness depends on factors like consistency, frequency, and your skin or body’s individual response. Because results vary from person to person, we encourage sticking to the recommended treatment schedule for at least the full initial cycle (typically several weeks) before assessing effectiveness. If you have any concerns, feel free to contact our support team — we’re here to help you optimize your experience.

Can red light therapy replace professional medical treatments?

Elym devices are designed as wellness and skincare tools, not medical or clinical treatments. While many people experience skin improvements, wellness benefits, or pain relief, individual results vary — and LED therapy is best used as a complementary wellness tool, not a substitute for professional medical care.
